This session is designed for parents who are total beginners to yoga. Please note that if you are pregnant, have underlying health issues or have had surgery then please enquire with your doctor first before taking part or find a practitioner specifically for you e.g. pregnancy yoga. Before you begin this session please read and listen to our Introduction to Yoga with We Be Kids.
The session allows us to gently warm up the body, get to grips with a few key postures in yoga and then connect with our bodies for feedback at the end in a relaxation. Each key posture in this short sequence is also then covered in a little more detail in separate clips below to make the postures accessible for all.
These clips take a slower approach to help you understand how to get yourself into the postures as best as you can allowing you to take your yoga practice at your own pace and so that you feel more confident in what you are doing when following along with the session or in a class somewhere close to you. Remember to practice with kindness; smile, it's ok to be learning, it's ok not to be sure, it's ok to be finding your way, it's ok to take things at your own pace, pat yourself on the back for beginning.

Get Active - yoga may not be running a marathon but regular practice will reap many benefits to the physical and mental bodies.
Keep Learning - Use this session to help you learn about how your body works in yoga. Posture by posture learning can allow learning to occur at your own pace and then you can build it into your yoga practice as and when you are ready.
Be Mindful- Use the relaxation at the end to check in with ourselves. Yoga is a practice that relies on you listening to your body keenly in order not to over-do anything but also to find yourself at that point where you are still working a little. This is mindfulness in practice.
Practice Kindness- In yoga only ever practice with kindness to yourself - EVERY practice is different and our bodies will feel the postures differently every time. Yoga should never hurt. Look after yourself - there is only one of you.
