'How the hedgehog got its spikes' is a story written and told by Danny English.
In this story a young little hedgehog leaves home when he realises he's different to all the other hedgehogs: he doesn't have any spikes.
He embarks on a quest for a coat of his own and looks for inspiration from other animals of the forest. Little does he know that to get his spikes he should be looking somewhere totally different.
After you have listened to the story consider the following questions:
1- The story begins in a beautiful forest and describes a place where Hedgehogs like to live, have you ever been to a forest like this? Have you ever seen a hedgehog in the wild?
2- The hedgehog sets off on an adventure in search of his spikes- when was the last time you went on an adventure? Where did you go? How did you feel when you were setting off?
3- The Hedgehog finally finds his spikes by 'looking within himself'- what does that mean? What might you find if you 'look inside'?
