Storytelling: Stone Soup
This story is an old Germanic folk tale that can be traced back beyond the early 1700's.
Two weary travellers stumble over a beautiful town in the mountains. They knock on a door sure they will be greeted well and offered food. However, when they begin to meet the locals it becomes clear that this village is missing a very important ingredient.
The traveler's help them rediscover this important ingredient with the help of a little 'magic'
Following this story consider these questions and activities:
1. In the story two weary travellers knock on a door and ask for help- is it ever okay to help a stranger in need?
2. Sharing food with others is a great way to build community, have you ever been to an event where people share food?
3. Inviting friends and family to a 'pot luck' where everybody brings a dish of food is a great way to try new foods and meet new people, try it with people you know, you're sure to have great time.
