Mud is a super accessible material & was in fact one of the first mediums that humans could be creative with. Today many seem less confident about it's messy factor but, prepared & with suitable clothing, mud is actually lots & lots of fun! In this session we explore how to create natural outdoor mud art works that will transition back to the earth with the weather conditions they are exposed to. So don't be afraid, let's get stuck into the mud! Want to find out more, consider looking into Land Art and start with artists such as Andy Goldworthy & Richard Long. Items required: Outdoor space that has some earth

Sticks for digging up & mixing mud

Water - to make the mud more pliable in some weather conditions & possibly to help rinse hands Optional Items: Gardening gloves

Damp cloths in a bag for cleaning hands

Towel - for drying off wet muddy hands Tub/bucket to mix in Gardening trowel This resource is great fun but also provides a boost to your wellbeing by helping you:

1) Get Active- enjoy your spring walk to discover the perfect place to make mud creations.

2) Keep Learning- there are so many different natural materials to add to your creations - see if you can identify them as you go.

3) Be Mindful- When working with mud, notice it just a little closer than you usually would. What type of mud do you have? Is it flakey, full of stones, have lots of twigs in it? Take the time to look and feel the textures. What does your mud smell like?

4) Practice Kindness- Help each other to work together to create an outcome. Younger children may need kindness & patience to create what they want.

5) Think Community- Take a litter picker with you as you go and make your community a nicer place for all.
