Have you noticed how all the animals have particular relationships with each other? Cats chase mice, dogs seem angry with cats, some animals live in barns and some live in the wild.
I'll let you into a secret though, it hasn't always been that way!
In this Polish folk tale a lazy cat is asked to guard the stories and history of each of the animals. The cat hides them somewhere safe and warm and dry but does it keep them safe...let's hope so as the freedom of the animals depends on it!
After listening to the story consider the following questions:
When the animals loose their stories they forget about their purpose and who they are. Knowing the stories of our families is important- ask your Mum, Dad, Grandma or Granddad to tell you a story about their past.
In the story the dog suggests the cat as the best animal to look after the scrolls- was this a good choice? Which animal would you have suggested and why?
In order for the animals to regain their freedom they need to rewrite their stories, lets help them. Can you write an animal story of your own?
